The ballroom at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI, was filled to capacity at the SPRI quarterly meeting in July. The schedule was packed with 17 task force meetings and two special SPRI Member Services education sessions. A lunchtime discussion led by Dick Davis and Phil Smith of FM Approvals, Update on the Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-28, provided the latest information on all of the recent changes. The Tuesday evening session, The Impact of Air Intrusion on Mechanically-Attached Roof Systems was presented by Andre Desjarlais, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The Powerpoint presentation of the afternoon session is posted in the Members Only are of the SPRI website.

Meeting for the first time was the D6878 TPO Consideration for Revision Task Force led by Eric Olson of Johns Manville. The objective of this task force is to investigate whether there are performance benefits realized with a fleece back Thermoplastic Polyolefin( TPO) membrane versus smooth back; physical performance and potential impact resistance. The D6878 standard currently combines these products under one membrane type. All discussion and activity of this Task Force will focus on potential updates to the ASTM standard D6878. This Task Force includes members of ASTM who are joining the task force meetings via conference call.

After sitting in meetings all day, SPRI Members were ready for a little R&R. Even though the torrential rain kept everyone inside, the annual Member Services BBQ was a big success. Some even managed to get in a few rounds of corn hole!
